[ Personality ] :
Sima Shi is a member of the Sima clan and the eldest son of Sima Yi, a famous strategist and commander and one of the greatest minds of his age. Shi takes after his father in many ways, most prominently in his attitude towards battle and much of his sense of morality.
Cool and calculating on the battlefield, Sima Shi is every bit the genius and very aware of this fact. He is not shy about speaking about his talents, gifts and achievements, seeing no point in being modest about such things; a truly intelligent man knows himself and what he is capable of well, and works with that. Knowing this, it is not surprising that Shi is extremely ambitious and relentless; behind that exterior calm is a considerable amount of passion and fire.
He has no sympathy to those who fight for an 'outdated' ideal; when dealing with the Shu forces he has utter contempt for them and their desire to create a 'land of benevolence,' pointing out that it is simply keeping the war going. Shi is a realist, and under no illusions about what is necessary to unite the war-torn land. As far as he is concerned, anyone who opposes him due to such ideals deserves no mercy whatsoever.
Despite these similarities to his father, Sima Shi has several notable differences to him personality wise. One is his charisma. Shi has an almost magnetic presence, drawing many to him and earning him the unquestioning loyalty of the majority of his generals, soldiers and people. While he will not hold back from criticising and punishing where he believes it is due, he is also willing to offer praise where it has been earned.
The heir of the Sima is, notably, a man of compassion at heart. He has the best interests of the land and its population in mind in everything he does; to him, if the people in charge are not capable of doing the job right, they should be removed from their position and replaced by those who are capable, and he sees himself as someone who is very capable. With this in mind, coupled with his great ambition and the urge to test himself himself, he is not afraid to challenge anyone if he sees the need to. Shi is also very talented at spotting a person's strong points and utilising them (notably with Zhuge Dan; the man is pointed out by many as lacking in talent, but his soldiers are devoted to him, which is something Shi can see the worth in).
It should be noted that he has no patience for those who try and be subtle with him; he has chastised members of his army for expecting him to 'read their minds' before. Sima Shi values people being upfront with him rather than dropping hints.
He has also been shown to have a possessive streak at times; bond quotes with female characters mention that he cannot bear the thought of sharing their smile with another, and in addition, he hates sharing his favourite foods (meat buns being the famous case of this, amongst the fandom, thanks to a certain stage where he gets angry purely because his brother ate his meat bun)!
Speaking of his brother, Shi is often seen as being very harsh with Sima Zhao. This is simply his way of getting Zhao to fulfill his true potential, however; he knows what the younger man would be capable of if he could get past his laziness. Shi does not say as such, but it is made perfectly clear that he loves his family (the Sima clan as a whole have strong bonds) and deeply appreciates Zhao going against orders by coming to Shi's deathbed, to be with him as he passes away.
[ Strengths/Weaknesses ] :
Strengths:
+ His genius-level intelligence. The Sima clan is filled with many intelligent men and women, and Shi, along with his brother and father, is one of the greatest minds it ever produced. He is particularly talented in regards to warfare and administration, as well as many academic and artistic pursuits (such as poetry).
+ Shi is skilled with a variety of weapons, most prominently one-handed swords (especially rapiers).
+ In addition, characters in the Warriors-verse utilise a kind of 'battle magic' called musou, which manifests differently depending on the character. In Shi's case, this enables him to attack with what seems like spears of dark energy, as well as blasts of ice.
+ His charming nature makes it relatively easy for him to make allies, over time.
Weaknesses:
- Shi's left eye was permanently damaged in a battle against Shu; badly enough that the small mask-like object he wears around it is something he can never take off. This is because it literally holds the eye in place. Cutscenes make it obvious he can still see out of this eye, but only partially. If the mask were removed, and not replaced quickly, it could lead to permanent blindness in that eye. Furthermore, the eye is shown to be prone to infection).
- The cheekbone beneath that eye was also damaged, resulting in loss of feeling in that area.
- For all his intelligence, Sima Shi will be coming into a world almost two thousand years past his own, technology and culturally-wise. His lack of experience in regards to the many, many ideas and tech developed past his time will obviously be a hindrance.
+ His possessiveness can sometimes be a problem; he can get rather angry and even, on rare occasions, irrational if something he is very possessive over is taken from him.
+ For all his charm, he can sometimes rub people up the wrong way due to his cool approach to fights and politics.
[ Other Important Facts ] :
Shi has a tendancy to laugh often, and not just because he is amused; it can be a way of conveying happiness and affection as well! XD
[ Sample ] :
There were two things Sima Shi could be sure of.
One, he had died. That had certainly been no dream, no illusion. He was not fool enough to even consider such possibilities when the memory of that moment was so vivid in his mind.
Two, despite that, he wasn't dead anymore.
Something had revived him. A God? No magician in their land had ever been powerful enough to raise the dead with body and mind still fully intact, so there was no other conclusion that made sense. The local people, whom he had talked to for quite some time, certainly talked about something called the 'Lamufao' in reverential tones, and had treated Shi himself with kindness and a surprising willingness to give him whatever he needed. The soaking bedclothes he had been in when he arrived were now gone, discarded, and he was sat in the 'plaza' wearing the garments those ever-so helpful men and women had obtained for him.
They were odd, foreign, as was the entire city. Many others might have panicked right now, surrounded by the unfamiliar in a situation that should have been impossible, but Shi was more intrigued than anything else. He had died and passed down the responsibility of leading their clan to his brother, Zhao. There was no point in dwelling on that, on what he had left behind for good. Only a fool would do such a thing.
All in all, there was only one thing that bothered him about this.
Raising a hand to his eye, Shi frowned, and pressed a finger against the skin beneath the tiny mask there. No feeling. In addition to that, he was still partially blind in the eye the mask surrounded.
It seemed odd that anyone would go to such trouble and not fix such a problem, especially considering that his damaged eye had eventually lead to his death in the first place. Perhaps they were a fool with more power than they could truly handle? Shi could not believe that someone with the ability to restore the dead to life could not fix one patch of damaged flesh, after all. The only other possibility was that they wanted to keep him weak in some manner to ensure their own safety, but if they were truly a God, then he would not be a threat to them.
Hmm. Perhaps it wasn't a God that had brought him here, after all.
At that thought he felt a genuine rush of excitement; a challenge had been placed before him, something that would actually stretch his knowledge, his skills. This was the kind of thing his father would have welcomed with open arms, and Sima Shi was like him in many ways.
He could not help it; he threw back his head and laughed. The future was sure to be interesting.
